Cool new video from M&S. This is one of my favorite songs by them, glad to see they released it as a single. Enjoy!

The Suzie Q Birthday Special
Well, I won't go into years or numbers or anything that could get me into trouble, but today is my mother's birthday. I don't think she's very excited about it, but still, it should be celebrated. Without her I would not be here. And without her guidance I definitely would not be where I am today. I owe her for every single fiber of my artistic being.
1950's
It's funny how looking at old pictures of your parents in their youth really makes you think of them in a totally different way. No matter how old we get as children, it's still kinda all about us. It's like their life stopped when we were born. It's hard to imagine your parents and their personalities (and all the stuff they never want to admit happened) before you were even a twinkle in someone's eye. It's fun to think about. Anyway, here are a couple of photos that I've fixed up a bit. The first one is one of my all time favorites.

The Holga Experiment
These are the first ever pictures developed on my Holga. For those of you unfamiliar with the Holga, its basically a $25 toy camera that shoots medium format film. Known for it's artsy, grainy, under/over exposed, light leakin' pictures, it's loved by hipsters everywhere. It's the original Instagram.
For a while there I was obsessed with the idea, shooting a good 10 rolls of film in a matter of a week. Then reality set in. To develop and scan each roll of film was over $30. You have to ship off your negatives and patiently await their return. This is not easy for me. My first camera was digital. I'm used to instant gratification.
After a couple of weeks I got my images back and I was, well, disappointed. Pissed off more like it. I've seen some great Holga stuff. Yea, I know they're supposed to be crappy and artsy and all that, but these were just crappy. My excitement for the Holga immediately ceased to exist. I put it down, gave my unused rolls of film away, and retired my Holga to a bookshelf. It was fun while it lasted.
That was at least 8 months ago. I recently found my CD of scans and, with a fresh pair of eyes, decided to give them another go. They still aren't what I expected, but hey, I've seen much worse. Given the right print and environment and they could look pretty cool. I'm actually going to look for my undeveloped film and develop another roll at random.
So crack open a PBR and get yourself a Holga. They're actually fun, just don't expect too much.

Prêt à Porter Spring 2013
My first official fashion shoot is in the books. It was a freezing and extremely windy January day, which always seems to be the norm with these sorts of things. As it turns out, goosebumps suck to get rid of in Photoshop.
My client is an up and coming clothing company, Pret A Porter, based out of here and LA. I shot a runway show last fall for the owner and designer, Carrie Licciardi, and she called me up to shoot some of her new spring stuff. These are some of my favorites. Be sure to check it out, it's all very cool and affordable. Looking forward to more shoots like this in the future!

Fat Tuesday 2013
I'll spare you the details- you know the deal...it's Mardi Gras in New Orleans. A one of a kind thing. A regular Tuesday to everyone else, but a celebration of all things down here. The forecast called for fog and torrential downpours, but as you'll see, that really didn't stop anyone.
Hit play and enjoy some of what I saw down in the Quarter.
Yes, Jesus would be proud. Idiots.
The stuff nightmares are made of.
Photo caption contest for this one. Go.
Oh, the irony... These guys were very, very mean and very, very judgmental. I'm guessing Jesus would be ashamed.
One of the best costumes of the day...this dude was cracking me up. Don't know what he was going for, but I'd call this one "Ron Swanson in a box."
So long from New Orleans.
