Vive la France!

It is official.  I shall be a legal resident of France for the next 8 months!  After a suspenseful couple of weeks waiting on the French consulate to FedEx my passport back to me, it has finally arrived and is not leaving my sight.  The French consulate likes to keep things interesting...updating you on the status of your visa is not really their thing.  In their defense, though, I will say that my experience in Houston was lovely and I have no complaints.  I was expecting a difficult time, mainly because I had heard horror stories from friends, but my experience could not have been better.  Thank you French government!

I'm am obviously more than excited and will be blogging every detail of my European adventure, so stay tuned.  Also, follow me on Instagram for up to the minute grams.  This is gonna be fun.

Keri's Bridals

I've been patiently waiting to post these.  This is Keri, who was recently married to my good friend, Lou.  I shot their beautiful wedding this past weekend, so I can now post these.  These are some of my favorite portraits I've taken to date.  Not only is Keri easy on the eyes, but she made my job insanely easy...super cool girl.

Unfortunately we were limited to the indoors due to the small hurricane happening outside, but we made the best of it.  We were able to get some shots on the porch when the rain slowed a bit, and they happen to be my favorite.  It was also my chance to use my "new" lens, an old 85mm Soviet hunk of glass...imperfect in about every way, except of course, the look of the final picture.  It's heavy, manually focuses, and most likely radioactive (I'm only slightly kidding), but the results are simply beautiful, and remind me greatly of the old brass barrel lens used in wet plate or large format photography.  It's kinda a great mix of both worlds.  Anyway, you'll see what I'm talking about below.  Enjoy...I'll be posting more from the wedding soon!

Halloween 2013

Halloween...one of my very favorite times of the year.  Unfortunately on this Halloween it started pouring early, so I packed it up early and headed indoors.  Not all was ruined though, I ate candy and watched Hocus Pocus, still one of my favorite movies.  Not even kidding.

Anyway, here are a few from Halloween night.

I am not sure how these are legal, but after doing some research, it turns out the cops don't even mess with them.

Any Edward Gorey fans out there?

The Lion City

The Lion City from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.

This is truly great.  You've probably seen of the tilt-shift effect before...ya know, the effect that makes everything look miniature...but you've probably never seen it like this.  In a world that is way over saturated with very good time lapse videos, this one definitely sticks out.  You won't be disappointed.
