Riki Monroe: Shoot I

Using classic Marilyn Monroe photos as inspiration, Riki and I set out to make some photos of our own.  Here are a few from the first shoot.  The purpose of these photos is not to re-create anything done by Marilyn, just simply to remind you of them.  But I will say it's a shame they just used Michelle Williams to portray Marilyn, because I think Riki bears a much closer resemblance.  There are a couple of candid looks below that are just freaky close.

Anyway, many more to come.  Enjoy.

Wild Flowers of City Park

The Passion Flower, among others, grows wild on the abandoned golf course in City Park.... and apparently it is a great herb herb used for headaches, pain, PMS, and insomnia when ground up and a brewed in a tea. Who knew? Nature is pretty sweet.

Abandoned City Park Golf Course

City Park is the 6th largest and 7th most visited in the United States. It is twice as large as NY's Central Park and home to the largest collection of mature live Oak trees in the world, some of which are 600-700 years old.

Much of the park was destroyed by Katrina, but most of it has come back. But the old City Park golf course remains untouched to this day. Plans are in the works to bring two pro quality courses back to the park, but who knows what will happen in these economic times. Check out a master plan here.

For now, the abandoned courses at City Park offer quite the terrain for exploring, bike riding, jogging, camping...whatever. Check it out sometime.
